The incident occurred as Djokovic was leaving the court after defeating French qualifier Corentin Moutet with a score of 6-3, 6-1 in his opening match. Following the impact, Djokovic received immediate medical attention and was escorted off the court.

Medical staff at the Foro Italico confirmed that Djokovic sustained a bump on his head but did not require stitches. Despite the ordeal, he did not hold his customary post-match press conference.

Tournament organizers released a statement assuring fans that Djokovic's condition was not a cause for concern.
