Cameron Norrie Clinches First ATP Tour Win Since July at Moselle Open
Cameron Norrie secured his first ATP Tour victory since July, overcoming Roberto Carballes Baena at the Moselle Open in Metz. The British number two fought back from a set and a break down to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a thrilling encounter against the Spaniard.
This marks Norrie's first tour win since his triumph over Jozef Kovalik in the opening round of the Swedish Open nearly four months ago.
A forearm injury had kept Norrie out of several tournaments during the summer, including the Olympics and US Open, but he made his return to action last month.
"I was happy with the way I turned it around, and it's nice to get a win," Norrie said after the match.
The 29-year-old, currently ranked 57th in the world, will face third-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the second round on Wednesday.
In other action at the Moselle Open, Norway's Casper Ruud and Russian top seed Andrey Rublev will both compete on Tuesday as they fight for spots in the ATP Finals in Turin. With three spots still up for grabs, Novak Djokovic (ranked sixth), Ruud (seventh), Alex de Minaur (eighth), and Rublev (ninth) remain in contention.
Djokovic is not participating this week, having withdrawn from last week's Paris Masters, while De Minaur is the top seed at the Serbia Open.
