Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones indicated that a contract extension for head coach is still on the table.

"I don't think that's crazy at all," Jones said during his weekly interview on *105.3 The Fan*, as reported by Jon Machota of *The Athletic*. "This is a -winning coach. Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas. We got a lot of football left."

McCarthy, who guided the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 2011, is currently in the final year of the five-year contract he signed with Dallas in 2020. Over his tenure with the Cowboys, McCarthy has compiled a 46-32 record and led the team to three consecutive 12-5 seasons from 2021 to 2023.

Jones emphasized that the remaining six games of the season will play a crucial role in determining the team's future direction. "It's a lifetime," Jones said, referring to how much the final stretch could impact offseason decisions, according to Josh Alper of *Pro Football Talk*.

Despite a challenging 4-7 record this season, Dallas broke a five-game losing streak with a 34-26 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The win offered a much-needed boost as the team continues to battle through injuries to key players, including quarterback Dak Prescott, linebacker Micah Parsons, and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

Even with the setbacks, Jones has maintained his support for McCarthy. He previously stated that the head coach has not lost the locker room, a sentiment echoed by chief operating officer and co-owner Stephen Jones.

When asked if he felt any mixed emotions about Sunday's win against a divisional rival, Stephen Jones dismissed the notion. "Absolutely not. We've been very up front that we want to win football games right now," he said. "The most important thing right now is to play the people who give us the best chance to win the game."

The Cowboys will look to build on their recent victory as they prepare to face the Giants on Thursday in their annual Thanksgiving Day game.
