Steelers Acquire Mike Williams from Jets in Exchange for 2025 Fifth-Round Pick
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have traded for wide receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Williams, 30, had been on the trade radar since the Jets secured Davante Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in October. The wideout signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Jets this offseason, after spending his first seven NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. Williams was selected by the Chargers as the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In the current season, Williams has participated in 53% of the Jets' offensive snaps, contributing 12 receptions for 166 yards but failing to score a touchdown. He has posted two seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards, with his most recent milestone coming in 2021.
Williams now joins a Steelers wide receiver group that features George Pickens, Van Jefferson, and Calvin Austin. Pittsburgh will next face the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
