Daniels: I want to play vs. Bears, but not my decision
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels expressed his desire to play in Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears but acknowledged that the final decision is beyond his control.
"I want to play, but (it's) not my decision," Daniels told reporters on Friday, including John Keim of ESPN. He noted that he feels good despite the circumstances.
Daniels sustained a rib injury during last Sunday's win against the Carolina Panthers and has been classified as week-to-week. He missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday but returned to the field on Friday. His status for the game remains questionable.
"We will assess how he responds to the work that we did over the next 48 hours," head coach Dan Quinn stated on Friday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "But we really pushed it today."
The rookie quarterback has emerged as a contender for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award, boasting a 5-2 record and leading the league with a 75.6% completion rate. In addition, Daniels has thrown six touchdown passes and rushed for four touchdowns.
