The Broncos issued a statement on the matter, confirming that Reynolds was involved in the shooting. “Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the team said in a statement to The Associated Press. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

According to the Denver police, the shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on October 18 along Interstate 25, south of downtown. Two men, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, have been arrested in connection with the case. They are under investigation for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Police are still searching for potential additional suspects, and the arrest reports have been sealed to protect the ongoing investigation.

Local Denver station KUSA-TV, which first broke the story, reported that Reynolds was shot once in his left arm and once in the back of his head. The station also noted that the Broncos player and another man were followed after leaving a strip club named Shotgun Willies.

Reynolds, who is currently on injured reserve due to a broken finger, did not travel with the Broncos for their game against the on October 17. The shooting occurred just a few hours after the Broncos' victory over the Saints.

Despite his injuries, Reynolds has been working out on a side field during the team's practices this week. Players on injured reserve are typically not available for media interviews.

In his ninth NFL season and first with Denver, Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million contract during the offseason. He has appeared in five games this season, starting in one, and has recorded 12 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown. Before joining the Broncos, Reynolds spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions and has also played for the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Rams, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.
