Giants Owner Confirms Daboll and Schoen Will Stay Through 2025
New York Giants owner John Mara has announced plans to retain head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen for at least the 2025 season. Mara expressed disappointment with the team's current performance, stating, "Obviously, we're all very disappointed with where we are right now."
Mara emphasized, "But I'm gonna say one thing: We are not making any changes this season. And I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason, either."
The Giants have struggled this season, currently holding a record of 2-5 and ranking among the bottom five teams in total points and yards. Under Daboll, who was hired in 2022, the Giants have a record of 17-23-1.
"It's very difficult because the last 10 or 12 years have not been very good for fans, and it makes it particularly difficult," Mara noted. "But you got to do the right thing, and we're committed to doing that and seeing this process through."
Daboll's first season with the Giants saw them make the playoffs, but the team's performance has declined since then. Quarterback Daniel Jones has also faced challenges, posting an 80.6 passer rating in 2024, with six touchdown passes and four interceptions. He has struggled since signing a four-year, $160 million contract in March 2023, following a torn ACL that limited his play last season.
While Mara did not address Jones' future in his latest comments, he previously indicated that he does not regret the quarterback's extension, which keeps him under contract through the 2026 season but lacks guaranteed salary beyond 2024.
