The New Orleans Saints are set to sign running back to a two-year contract extension valued at , according to his agent and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. This agreement includes $22 million guaranteed, securing Kamara's position with the team through the 2026 season. Additionally, it is reported that the extension will provide the Saints with approximately $18 million in salary-cap relief for the 2025 season, as noted by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

At 29 years old, Kamara still had one year remaining on his previous contract, which would have imposed a cap number of $29 million for the 2025 season, per Over The Cap. Since being drafted in the third round in 2017, Kamara has spent his entire NFL with the Saints. He has accumulated 10,738 scrimmage yards and scored 84 total touchdowns in 108 games with the team.

While Kamara has yet to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season, he is on track to surpass 1,000 scrimmage yards for the eighth consecutive year. In the current season, Kamara leads the NFL with 145 touches, totaling 690 yards and seven touchdowns through seven games.

Negotiations for a new deal began during the offseason, but the parties did not reach an agreement at that time. Kamara stated on September 2 that he would not revisit his contract situation until after the 2024 season.
