Lions' Williams Suspended 2 Games for PED Violation

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been suspended for two games due to a violation of the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In response to the suspension, Williams expressed that he is "in good spirits."

This season, Williams has recorded 17 receptions for 361 yards and three touchdowns over six games. His average of 21.2 yards per reception ranks second in the NFL among eligible receivers, according to Football Reference. In the Lions' recent victory against the Minnesota Vikings, he had one catch.

The Lions are set to face the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers in their next two games, followed by a Week 10 matchup against the Houston Texans.

Since being drafted 12th overall by the Lions in 2022, Williams has yet to complete a full season. He played in just six games as a rookie while recovering from a torn ACL sustained during his final game at Alabama. In 2023, he faced a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy.

Although Williams faced challenges with drops last year, he has become a significant big-play threat, with seven of his nine NFL touchdowns coming from at least 30 yards out, including the playoffs.

Despite Williams' absence, the Lions have a strong group of skill-position players. Amon-Ra St. Brown leads the team in 2024 with 39 receptions, 401 receiving yards, and four touchdown catches.
