Jaylen Brown Criticizes Giannis Antetokounmpo's On-Court Prank as 'Immature'
Jaylen Brown was unimpressed with Giannis Antetokounmpo's playful gesture during the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics matchup on Sunday.
The incident took place early in the second quarter after Antetokounmpo was called for an offensive foul for making contact with Brown's head during a post-up move. As both players headed up the court, Antetokounmpo extended his hand toward Brown in a seemingly apologetic manner. However, just as Brown went to shake his hand, Antetokounmpo pulled back and grinned, leaving Brown visibly unamused.
When asked about the interaction after the game, Brown expressed his frustration with Antetokounmpo's behavior.
"Giannis is a child," Brown told NBC Sports Boston. "I'm just focused on helping my team get a win. And that's what we did tonight."
In response to Brown's remark, Antetokounmpo described the prank as a light-hearted moment, showing surprise at Brown's reaction. "This is who I am," Antetokounmpo said, as reported by ESPN's Jamal Collier. "I play the game with fun, joy."
Brown, returning to action after missing four games due to a strained hip flexor, had a challenging outing. He made only 4 of his 13 field goal attempts and was 1-for-5 from three-point range, finishing with a season-low 14 points, alongside five rebounds and four assists. Despite his struggles, Boston secured a 113-107 victory.
On the other hand, Antetokounmpo delivered a standout performance, scoring 43 points on 18-of-29 shooting. He also recorded 13 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. However, the Bucks struggled offensively, with no other player scoring more than 15 points, resulting in a 2-8 record for Doc Rivers' team.
