Durant Praises Irving as a "Master-Level Player" Ahead of Suns-Mavs Clash
Kevin Durant expressed high regard for his former teammate Kyrie Irving before the Phoenix Suns' upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks. Speaking to reporters, Durant shared his thoughts on Irving's skill level.
"I always thought Kyrie was a master-level player," Durant stated. "It's been like that for me, the last 10 years."
Durant highlighted Irving's comprehensive abilities on the court, noting his balanced approach to the game. "I feel like - he probably won't ever say this, he's such a humble player, humble person - I just think he's a complete player. I feel like there's no weaknesses or no holes in his game, physically or mentally. And I feel like his approach to the game is perfect for what you need as a team," Durant explained.
The Suns forward also praised Irving's consistent effort in improving his skills and contributing to his current team. "I just think he just keeps showing up every day, keep adding to his greatness, his legacy, and he's gonna help out the Mavs as much as he can," Durant added.
Irving, now in his third season with the Mavericks following a trade from the Nets in February 2023, has been a key player for Dallas. In the first eight games of the season, he is averaging 23 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. His shooting efficiency has also been impressive, boasting a 49.6% field goal percentage and an outstanding 54.5% from beyond the arc.
The first encounter between the Suns and Mavericks this season took place on October 26, with the Suns emerging victorious with a score of 114-102. The teams are set to face off again, with both stars aiming to lead their squads to another strong performance.
