Steven Adams Returns to Action for Rockets After Long Injury Layoff

Houston Rockets center Steven Adams made his long-awaited return to the NBA, playing in his first regular-season game since January 2023. Adams checked in for Alperen Sengun with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter during Monday's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.

Previously, Adams was sidelined due to a PCL sprain incurred while with the Memphis Grizzlies. After receiving a stem cell injection in April 2023, he was ruled out for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. Following surgery in October 2023, he was also ruled out for the 2023-24 season. Additionally, he has dealt with a calf strain as the season began.

The Rockets acquired Adams from the Grizzlies in February. In the preseason, he averaged 3.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over three games. Throughout his career, Adams has maintained averages of 9.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and one block, having been drafted 12th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Entering Monday's game, the Rockets held a record of 1-2 for the season.
