The Boston Celtics tied the NBA record for the most three-pointers in a single game, hitting 29 in a decisive over the New York Knicks on Tuesday.

Despite coming close to breaking the record, the Celtics missed their final 13 attempts from beyond the arc. Backup guard Payton Pritchard opted to dribble out the shot clock during the team's last possession.

Boston started strong, making 17 three-pointers in the first half. Jayson Tatum, after a less impactful performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, shone brightly with 37 points and 10 assists, including a game-high eight three-pointers. Derrick White and contributed with six and five made threes, respectively.

For the Knicks, forward Mikal Bridges led the team with 22 points in his debut, while newly acquired center scored 12 points in his first game for New York.

The Celtics received their championship rings and raised their franchise's 18th banner prior to the game.

Looking ahead, the Celtics will face the Washington Wizards in Game 2 of the season on Thursday, while the Knicks will host the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
