Grizzlies Re-sign Kennard to One-Year, $11M Deal
The Memphis Grizzlies have re-signed sharpshooter Luke Kennard to a one-year contract worth $11 million, according to sources reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kennard has spent the last season and a half with the Grizzlies following three years with the Los Angeles Clippers. Over his career, he has maintained an impressive 43.9% shooting percentage from beyond the arc, achieving at least 44% from three-point range for four consecutive seasons.
Injuries plagued Kennard last season, leading him to miss 43 games primarily due to a persistent knee issue. The Grizzlies initially acquired the guard to enhance spacing alongside superstar point guard Ja Morant. During his 24 regular-season games with Memphis in 2022-23, Kennard posted a remarkable 54% shooting percentage from three.
The Grizzlies aim to improve their standing this season after experiencing a decline last year. Throughout the campaign, the team used 33 different players, with key contributors Morant, Kennard, and starters Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart each sidelined for over half the season.
