Celtics' Derrick White Inks 4-Year, $125.9M Extension
The Boston Celtics have secured guard Derrick White with a substantial four-year, $125.9-million contract extension, sources confirmed to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
According to Wojnarowski, this deal represents the maximum extension allowable for White and includes a player option.
The Celtics recently clinched their 18th NBA championship in June by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
During the 2023-24 regular season, White boasted averages of 15.2 points, 5.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and one steal per game. In the playoffs, he maintained strong performance with averages of 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
White, originally from Parker, Colorado, joined the Celtics in February 2022 after a trade from the San Antonio Spurs. He made his NBA Finals debut later that year, although the Celtics fell to the Golden State Warriors. White was designated as a starter at the onset of the 2022-23 season.
Recognized for his defensive prowess, White has been named to the NBA's All-Defensive team twice.
