The Philadelphia 76ers have reached a significant agreement with free-agent forward on a four-year, $212 million contract, sources confirmed to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, adding flexibility for George in the future.

Formerly with the Los Angeles Clippers, George, 34, concluded his tenure there amidst reported contract negotiation challenges. The Clippers indicated that a return for the nine-time All-Star was unlikely.

During his final season with the Clippers, George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 47.1% from the field over 74 games. He initially joined Los Angeles in a trade with the that included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and multiple first-round draft picks.

Throughout his 14-year career, George holds averages of 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, with shooting percentages of 44% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.

Philadelphia has been active in free agency, also acquiring Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon while re-signing Kelly Oubre Jr. As of the latest updates, the Sixers had only three players officially under contract.

Entering the 2023-24 season with high hopes for a championship, Philadelphia faced an early exit in the playoffs against the Knicks. George's arrival in Philadelphia establishes a potent trio alongside former MVP Joel Embiid and rising star Tyrese Maxey.

Like Embiid, George has dealt with injury challenges in recent years, playing more than 56 games only once during his tenure with the Clippers. He has been named to the All-Star team in each of the eight seasons where he played at least 74 games.

The Orlando Magic had also shown interest in acquiring George, reflecting his status as a sought-after six-time All-NBA forward.
