Kristaps Porzingis' Game 3 Uncertainty
Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla informed reporters on Tuesday about Kristaps Porzingis' current status, stating that the player is grappling with a "serious injury" while striving to be available for Game 3.
According to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, the Celtics disclosed on Tuesday that Porzingis is listed as day-to-day following a posterior tibialis tendon dislocation in his left leg during the third quarter of Sunday's Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks. This injury is unrelated to his previous right calf ailment.
Porzingis' participation in Wednesday's game is officially uncertain.
Mazzulla emphasized, "Ultimately, the medical team won't jeopardize his well-being. The decision to play rests with us."
After missing the previous 10 postseason games due to a calf strain, Porzingis returned for the Finals opener. Despite coming off the bench, he made a significant impact in Game 1, accumulating 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in 20 minutes.
Despite the injury sustained in Game 2, Porzingis played for nearly three additional minutes and remains determined to continue without interruption.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that there are no indications of Porzingis being sidelined for Wednesday's matchup.
"I won't be stopped unless instructed otherwise," Porzingis conveyed to reporters, including Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.
