Dodgers’ Ohtani Expected to Play in Game 3 Despite Dislocating Shoulder
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Shohei Ohtani is anticipated to participate in Game 3 of the World Series, following a shoulder subluxation sustained in Game 2 against the New York Yankees. Manager Dave Roberts shared this update with ESPN's Karl Ravech on Sunday.
Roberts indicated that Ohtani is "in a great spot" after exiting Saturday's contest in noticeable discomfort. While Roberts did not provide details on the MRI results concerning Ohtani's shoulder, he noted that the player will undergo a standard hitting workout today. The final decision on his participation in Game 3 will be based on Ohtani's pain tolerance, as reported by Jack Harris from the Los Angeles Times.
The injury occurred in the seventh inning during the Dodgers' 4-2 win when Ohtani slid awkwardly into second base while attempting a steal and remained on the ground after being called out.
In the World Series, Ohtani has recorded one hit and one run scored. During the regular season, he posted an impressive .999 OPS (190 OPS+) with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases.
Game 3 is set to begin on Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET in New York, where the Dodgers aim to establish a 3-0 series lead.
