Ancelotti Criticizes Real Madrid Schedule After Multiple Injuries in Osasuna Victory
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed concern over the club's demanding schedule after his side was forced to make three first-half substitutions due to injuries in their 4-0 win over Osasuna.
Rodrygo and Eder Militao were both forced off in the first half with injuries, and veteran Lucas Vazquez was replaced at the break after sustaining a knock.
Following the match, Ancelotti commented on the rarity of such injuries, saying, per Forbes, that seeing three players injured in the first half was "quite rare." He also highlighted the issue of the **Real Madrid schedule**, which he believes is contributing to the increasing injury rate across clubs.
"The demands of this calendar do not allow the players to rest just enough, they arrive with less rest to the matches. It's a general problem, not just ours," Ancelotti explained.
Real Madrid's injury woes are growing, with Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, and Thibaut Courtois already sidelined. Relevo reports that Militao's injury is feared to be a cruciate ligament tear.
With key players out, particularly in defense, Ancelotti was asked whether Real Madrid would make signings in January or rely on their youth system. "In January we will see ... I don't think about signings because we have to prepare games with the ones we have ... Today Raul Asencio [a Real Madrid youth product who made his debut from the bench] gave a good contribution," he said.
Real Madrid's 4-0 victory, which included a hat-trick from Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham's first goal of the season, puts them six points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
