Real Madrid's Match Against Valencia Postponed Due to Severe Flooding
Real Madrid's upcoming match against Valencia, originally set for Saturday, has been postponed due to severe flash floods impacting Spain. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced the postponement of all matches in the Valencia region following the devastating floods that have resulted in at least 95 fatalities and left dozens more missing.
In response to the crisis, Real Madrid, along with the Red Cross, has contributed $1 million (£845,000) to aid those affected by the flooding. Real Madrid stated, "The donation will go towards helping the numerous families currently dealing with what is a critical situation, and who are in need of all our assistance and solidarity."
Other matches affected include Villarreal's La Liga encounter with Rayo Vallecano and three Segunda División games: Castellon versus RC Ferrol, CD Eldense against SD Huesca, and Malaga's match at Levante. In Liga F, the women's top flight, Valencia's game against Deportivo La Coruna and Real Madrid's fixture with Levante have also been postponed.
The RFEF acted on requests from La Liga, Liga F, and the clubs to suspend all professional matches in the region following the floods. Additionally, several Copa del Rey fixtures, including Valencia's game against Parla Escuela, have already been rescheduled.
To express solidarity with those affected, the RFEF announced that a minute's silence will be observed during this weekend's matches, honoring the victims of this natural disaster.
