Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, shared a blunt assessment of his two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 37-year-old Argentine forward, who left FC for PSG in 2021 with hopes of leading the French club to Champions League glory, recently expressed dissatisfaction with his time in Paris.

During his stint at PSG, Messi won two Ligue 1 titles and the Trophée des Champions, but the elusive Champions League title remained out of reach. Despite an array of talented attacking teammates, including and Kylian Mbappé, PSG were eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 during both of Messi's seasons at the club.

Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer (MLS), recently reflected on his time at PSG during a conversation with Brecht Dejaegere, a Belgian footballer now playing for Kortrijk. After a match between Inter Miami and Charlotte FC, Dejaegere asked Messi about his experience in Paris. Messi responded with one word, summing up his feelings: "la mierda," which translates to "s**t" in English.

Dejaegere, who previously faced Messi while playing for Toulouse FC, recounted the conversation in an interview with the Belgian news outlet RTBF. According to him, Messi was frustrated with the negative atmosphere surrounding PSG, where he was often whistled and booed by fans.

Messi acknowledged that leaving Barcelona for PSG was not his choice, describing it as an "overnight decision." He admitted, "It was difficult in Paris, but it is quite the opposite of what is going on with me here and now," referring to his current success at Inter Miami. Messi joined the MLS club in July 2023 after his contract with PSG expired, moving on a free transfer.

Despite the challenges in Paris, Messi's individual performances remained strong. In his final season at PSG, he recorded 21 goals and 20 assists. Before joining PSG, Messi won four Champions League titles with Barcelona and was the tournament's top scorer six times.

Messi's current team, Inter Miami, recently won the MLS Supporters' Shield for the best regular season record, highlighting a fresh chapter in his storied career.
