Ronaldo Becomes First Player to Reach 900 Career Goals
Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a new milestone in his illustrious career. The 39-year-old forward scored his 900th professional goal on Thursday during Portugal's opening match of the 2024-25 Nations League against Croatia.
Ronaldo reached this landmark with a close-range goal in the first half of Portugal's 2-1 victory. After scoring, Ronaldo was visibly emotional, briefly celebrating before covering his face with his hands and falling to the ground as his teammates gathered around him.
This achievement comes shortly after Ronaldo's inclusion in the Portugal squad drew attention, given his performance at Euro 2024. When questioned about the possibility of retiring from international football, Ronaldo stated that the thought "never" crossed his mind following the summer tournament.
Ronaldo has now accumulated 131 goals in 213 appearances for the Portuguese national team. His total of 769 club goals includes 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 68 for Al-Nassr, and 5 for Sporting CP.
