Liverpool Continue Talks to Sign Spain's Zubimendi
Liverpool are engaged in discussions with Real Sociedad regarding a potential transfer for Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The 25-year-old has a release clause set at 60 million euros (£51.5 million), which must be paid in a single installment for the Reds to activate it.
The negotiations focus on structuring a deal that could benefit both clubs, although the outcome will ultimately depend on Zubimendi's choice. Reports indicate that any delays in the transfer process are not related to Liverpool's attempts to include players as part of a possible exchange.
Zubimendi has been with Real Sociedad since 2011 and recently accompanied the team on their pre-season tour in Germany. He was named as a substitute during their friendly match against Union Berlin on Friday.
Liverpool have identified Zubimendi as a key target as they aim to make their first significant signing under new manager Arne Slot. The midfielder was also a member of the Spain squad that triumphed at Euro 2024, playing as a second-half substitute for Manchester City's Rodri in the final against England, which Spain won 2-1.
