UEFA has fined seven national soccer federations a total of 230,000 euros ($250,000) due to racist and discriminatory behavior by during the Euro 2024 tournament, held in Germany.

The governing body did not disclose specific details about the incidents, which were primarily attributed to fans from teams in the Balkans throughout the month-long, 24-nation event.

Croatia received the highest fine of 50,000 euros ($54,000) for incidents occurring during each of its three matches. During a group-stage game in Hamburg, Croatian and Albanian fans chanted anti-Serbia slogans. UEFA had announced an investigation into this matter, and the Serbian federation had threatened to withdraw from the tournament if UEFA did not take action.

Albania was fined 30,000 euros ($32,500) for racist behavior during two matches, against Croatia and Spain. Both the Albanian and Croatian federations had previously been penalized during the tournament for fans setting off fireworks and throwing objects, which was noted during a 2-2 draw. Additionally, Albanian player Mirlind Daku received a two-game ban for leading nationalist chants, including those directed at Serbia.

Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia were also fined for incidents in three separate games. Romania was fined 40,000 euros ($43,400), while Serbia and Slovenia were each fined 30,000 euros ($32,500).

Hungary faced a 30,000-euro ($32,500) fine for racist fan conduct at two games, and was fined 20,000 euros ($21,700) for incidents at one game.

Further sanctions were imposed on Croatia, Romania, and Serbia, including a ban on selling tickets to fans for one away game. These bans are to be enforced during Nations matches in September.
