Chelsea Secure Signing of Teenage Striker Guiu from Barcelona

Chelsea have finalized the £5m acquisition of Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu, signing him to a five-year contract with an option for an additional year.

Last week, the Blues agreed in principle to activate Guiu's £5m release clause, solidifying their pursuit of the 18-year-old striker.

Barcelona reportedly sought to eliminate Guiu's modest release clause by proposing a contract extension.

Nevertheless, Chelsea successfully secured the signing of the Spain Under-19s forward to strengthen their attacking lineup.

A La Masia academy graduate, Guiu made an impactful debut by scoring just 23 seconds into a match against Athletic Bilbao in 2023.

Guiu, known for his robust and swift playing style as a number nine, has limited experience, tallying two goals in seven senior appearances.

While expected to join the first team, Guiu's addition does not rule out Chelsea's potential recruitment of additional attackers this summer.
