Chelsea set to sign Barcelona teenager Guiu
Chelsea Football Club is poised to secure the services of Barcelona youth prospect Marc Guiu after agreeing in principle to activate his £5 million release clause. The London club is preparing for a medical session in the capital for the 18-year-old forward.
Barcelona had sought to renegotiate Guiu's contract, aiming to eliminate the modest release clause, but negotiations with his representatives favored Chelsea. The Spain Under-19 international, a product of Barcelona's esteemed La Masia academy, made an impactful debut by scoring within 23 seconds against Athletic Bilbao in 2023.
Guiu, known for his robust and speedy play as a traditional number nine, has appeared in seven senior matches, netting twice. Chelsea views him as a potential addition to their first-team squad, with plans possibly extending to further bolstering their attacking options this summer.
In parallel, Chelsea is also finalizing a £19 million transfer for Aston Villa's 18-year-old Omari Kellyman. The forward is expected to sign a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year, following the completion of his medical this week at Stamford Bridge.
