Alpine earns first 2024 point as Ocon shines in Miami Grand Prix battle
Alpine finally found their footing in the 2024 season as Esteban Ocon secured 10th place at the Miami Grand Prix, marking the team's first point of the campaign. Despite starting from mid-grid positions, Ocon and teammate Pierre Gasly engaged in spirited battles throughout the race.
Ocon reflected on the intense competition and the team's perseverance, acknowledging the significant progress made since the challenging season opener in Bahrain. Gasly, although finishing in 12th place, praised the team's continuous development of the A524 car.
Both drivers highlighted the strategic updates introduced by Alpine, including a significant floor upgrade implemented first on Ocon's car in China and later on Gasly's in Miami. This ongoing development showcases the team's commitment to improvement.
Looking ahead, Alpine remains focused on building upon this momentum, with Ocon and Gasly expressing optimism about their future competitiveness in upcoming races.
“I was able to pull some great moves, even on Fernando at the start of the race. There were some good fights out there so, yeah, we'll keep improving, but overall we're going in the right direction.”
